General English Course

Integrated Studies – morning class On this programme, you will take Integrated Study lessons in the morning. During class, your teacher will use an integrated approach to help you improve your general ability to communicate. There are 2 periods in this programme – Period A and Period B. Period A deals with language elements and their practice. Period B targets language usage through discussion of video, audio and written materials.

Skill Studies – afternoon class If you chose to take 24 or 30 lessons per week, you will also take Skill Study lessons in the afternoon. Your teacher will bring interesting topics and activities, giving you the opportunity to develop and practice your specific skills with other students.

English for Work

On this programme, you will especially work on communication practice in business situations such as: • business meetings
• presentations
• negotiations
• handling telephone calls
• the preparation of memos, letters and reports
• Case studies and problem-solving

Your teacher will use authentic business documents as course materials as much as possible.

During the class, you will also learn about workplace etiquette and socializing in a business environment, with a special focus on the North American context.

One-to-One English Course

On this programme, you can request special emphasis on a particular language skill, or area of expertise in English.

If you want to work on all language skills, your teacher will chose suitable course material for you, but if you want to work on a special area or particular language skill, you can also bring your own material.

Self-Assessment form Before the course start date, you will need to fill out the Self-Assessment form, so that the school can better help meet your needs.

Cambridge Preparation Courses

On this programme, you will prepare for all 5 examination papers (sections), which are set by Cambridge ESOL:

Paper 1 Reading Paper 2 Writing Paper 3 Use of English Paper 4 Listening Paper 5 Speaking

In addition, you should be prepared to undertake 2 hours of homework each day to supplement in-class instruction. Study and practice are key ingredients in preparing for this exam.

Your teacher will also assist you in choosing appropriate supplementary materials to improve your performance in specific areas of weakness. This will ensure that you are well-prepared for all the examination papers.

Higher Score is the school’s award-winning specialist exam preparation centre and on this programme, you can just focus on your exam preparation.

There is no general English component to the course, but you will study every aspect of the exam with a focus on speaking and writing.

Your teacher is very experienced in exam preparation, so that you can develop the test skills and knowledge for the exam as quickly and effectively as possible.
