Malta is a fascinating country located in the middle of the Mediterranean, with a surprisingly extensive history despite its small size. The Islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino form the republic of Malta which has been a member of the EU since 2004. Over the centuries, the civilisations that have occupied Malta have left behind a legacy and wealth of culture. There are three UNESCO world Heritage sites, the prehistoric temples, the Hypogeum and the capital city Valetta.
Malta is ideal for those wanting to combine a language course with a holiday; great weather all year round, mild winters and guaranteed summer sunshine, clear blue sea, sandy and rocky beaches, friendly islanders and plenty to do in the evenings.

Gozo is the second largest island in the archipelago of the republic of Malta, 4.5 km long & 7.5 km wide, with a shore line of 43 km & a population of around 28,000.
Gozo is quite distinct, greener and more fertile then the other island and based on agriculture and fishing. You will find a fairly laid-back attitude to life and things a little quiter then on the other islands which seems to appeal to most visitors.
Sliema was once a quaint fishing village and now has become one of Malta’s most popular residential and shopping areas, from here you also have easy access to towns like Valletta or St. Julian.
There is plenty to do in Sliema, spend time on the clean beaches or do any of the numerous watersport activites on offer. Enjoy the Maltese cuisine, which is typically Mediterranean, and based on fresh seasonal produce and seafood in one of the numerous cafes and resturants.
Valletta is Malta's capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site, its Baroque architecture tells of its historic and strategic importance since its foundation. Now full of cafés and wine bars, the cities Grand Harbour is one of Malta's main tourist attractions and also a stunning setting for concerts, operas and other cultural events.
