| My major is classical music, and I'll graduate from Tokyo Art University in Japan in March.
This is the third time I've come to New York. The first time was last February. I came here because I heard from a friend that New York is the best place to study music. She has performed in the Metropolitan Opera , and now she is an international opera singer. She recommended an excellent vocal teacher to me. After I had a lesson with her, I decided to audition for Mannes College, because she is a professor at Mannes. English is necessary to go to college here, but I couldn't speak English at all when I came to New York the first time." I chose Rennert as a place to study English on the recommendation of an agent. I have made many friends at Rennert. My best memory was going to the Metropolitan Opera house after my farewell party with my Rennert friends and one of my teachers. One morning, we met in front of the Metropolitan Opera house, and bought standing room tickets for $20. We saw "La Bohème" – it was fantastic. I hope the audition for Mannes college will go well, and I can come back to enter college in September. Akiko Nishiguchi (Japan) |
