Standard German Course

The course concentrates on helping students to communicate better in terms of their grammar and conversational skills. Teachers focus on formal and informal letter writing, listening and reading comprehension.

Each group is taught by two teachers to give more variety and stimulation to students. This allows you to become more familiar with different styles of teaching, accents and variations in pronunciation of modern German.

Actilingua offers various culture and leisure programmes which take place regularly out of class hours. For example, you can take a guided tour of the city, or enjoy one of the many talks and videos on Austrian Music, Art, History, Literature and Architecture. There are also fun activities like the Viennese Waltz course, parties and sporting events.

Intensive German Course

As with the standard course, lessons concentrate on overall improvement and give the student the best opportunity to communicate better in terms of grammar, conversation as well as building a wider vocabulary. Students receive 5 additional classes which are given in small groups. The principle aim in these classes is to focus on the individual problems and concerns of the student or areas of weakness which you would like to improve on. Teachers are able to focus more on personal attention and in small groups we can encourage greater involvement in class discussions.

Super Intensive Course

This course combines the standard course of 20 lessons with 10 additional private lessons each week. This is a very Intense and demanding programme for students who want to study full-time. Private lessons allow the pupil to focus entirely on their own needs and areas of weakness which need improving. Also, individual attention caters for special learning needs and vocational interests. In addition to these classes, students can experience a taste of the culture and leisure of Vienna. Students receive 5 lessons of the cultural programme (some fees may apply) per week. Acitivities may include a guided tour of Vienna, talks and videos on Austrian Music, Art, History, Literature and Architecture.

One-to-One Course

Students can choose the direction of the course in the one on one course. If there are specific areas which you would like to focus on then you can inform your personal tutor and they will plan a course to meet your needs. For example, if you are struggling with your conversational skills then focus will be put on oral exercises and gaining confidence whilst speaking. Individual classes means that you will improve on the areas you need to the most without any distractions. 5 cultural lessons are included to assist your individual tuition and allow you to socialise and practice the issues discussed during private tuition.

German and Music

Students can choose to take the 20 or 30 lesson German course (Standard or Intensive) with an additional music lessons. You receive one individual instrumental (eg violin, piano) or voice lesson along with one theoretical lesson per week such as Music history, composition, acoustics or instrumental tuition. All music lessons take place in the Vienna Conservatory and you are allowed to practice your chosen instrument in your free time at the Conservatory. Over 600 students practice here from all over the world at the home of classical music. Please note a good level of German is required to follow the theoretical lessons.
