My summer in Cusco was one of my most memorable vacations ever. I enjoyed staying in the beautiful city, getting to know both Peruvians and other international students. The teachers and staff in Ecela were very good and fun at the same time. I will without doubt recommend the school to anyone! Ecela put me together with a host family who was loving and caring. They helped me improve my Spanish by talking with me every night. Going to Ecela in Cusco is really the best way studying Spanish!

Marianne Nerland - Norway
I stayed 3 weeks in Cusco. It was awesome. During the week I studied Spanish in the ECELA. My teacher Erik, was really funny and we had a pretty good time together. I learned a lot in that short time. Not just grammar, also in talking I got a lot of practice. In the afternoon my schoolmates and I went on different trips: horseback riding, cuatrimotos (ATV’s) or a visit at the Cusco market. My homestay family was really nice. My Peruvian brother and sister introduced me to their friends and treated me like a family member. The nights I spent with them or with my school mates dancing Salsa or drinking Pisco Sour. One weekend I went to the secret valley, which was beautiful. The second I visited Macchu Picchu. It was breathtaking. Before I left the ECELA my Belgium school mate and I went to the Titicaca lake. We spend the night on one of the islands there. Another amazing experience. Remembering the time I spent in Peru, in the ECELA and Cusco brings back unforgettable memories, which you cannot describe with words. Definitely one of the top experiences in my life.

I had a great experience at the school in Cuzco. The school was well-organized; the staff was very friendly; and the teachers were great. I spent most of my class-time with Erik. In fact, I was usually the only student in the morning class. Erik used helpful materials and he was always willing to chat or to explore the city during our class time. He is a great teacher and an all-around smart person. He made excellent use of class-time so that I was always engaged and learning. In my private class with Alex, he made a great list of "common errors" made by speakers of English. I found this to be very helpful. In my private class with Miluska, I appreciated that she accompanied me to the market to buy some products I needed to cook dinner. I thank everyone at ECELA for the great experience.

City Info
Situated in the heart of the Peruvian Andes at 3,400m above sea level, Cusco is one of the most important cities in Peru.  Cuzco, or the navel of the world, as it is known by the Incas is the capital of the Inca empire and is filled with unmissable archaeological sites both in and nearby to the city.  In the city centre you will find Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral along with the impressive San Francisco Church and Coricancha. And on the outskirts of the city in Sacsayhuaman you can visit a magnificent Inca Fortress which was added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 1983.
The ruins of the Sacred Valley are architectural wonders not to be missed.  The most important and popular of these is Machu Picchu ,a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but just as interesting are the towns of Ollantaytambo, Pisac and Chunchero. Doing an Inca trail trek is one of the best ways to enjoy the stunning Andean landscapes.
