What stands out to me is the quality of ECELA's team in Lima. They are very friendly and make a lot of effort to welcome and get to know their students. At the same time, they are very professional. The result is a relaxed and informal environment, interesting and effective lessons, and a friendly community where you meet a wide range of people. The weekly social activities help you get to know Lima, learn about Peru's culture (including trying your hand at mixing cocktails and cooking, or your feet at dancing), and to travel further afield. Continued...... ECELA provided snacks and drinks during break time, which was great to keep students going until their next meal. Additionally, ECELA had optional events throughout the week that enabled students to get out and explore the area with their peers. Studying Spanish in a country that speaks Spanish as its native language is the best way to learn. I lived with a Peruvian family as well as conversed in Spanish on a daily basis in order to get places via taxi, order food at a restaurant, ask for directions, and more, so I was fully immersed in the Peruvian culture and Spanish language, enabling me to learn quickly. With a generally warm climate year round Lima is an interesting city full of history and culture with a stunning coastline and beautiful beaches. Lima has managed to hold onto its traditions from Pre Inca and Inca times and has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Step back in time and wander the streets and squares of the historic centre of Lima and marvel at the colonial architecture. But on the flip side it is also a bustling and modern city in which you can find an endless amount of things to do such as hang gliding over the seaside cliffs of Miraflores or surfing the beautiful beaches of Lima.
